Mrs. Santo began her teaching career as an Adjunct Professor of Voice at The Community College of Rhode Island where her teaching responsibilities included Voice Class, Private Voice Instruction, Intro to Music, Music Theory, Opera Workshop, Opera History and Chamber Singers. She has also served on the faculty of the Music School of the Rhode Island Philharmonic. Her voice students have been winners of the RICCO Collegiate Vocal Competition, accepted into prestigious performance programs such as V.O.I.C.Experience with Sherrill Milnes, the Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts, and Westminster Choir College. She is currently the Choral Director for the North Providence Middle Schools where she directs the Treble Chorus, Mixed Chorus, Select Chorus and the all-boys vocal ensemble, “Early Edition”.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Rhode Island College where she was the Soprano Section Leader and a frequent soloist with the Rhode Island College Chorus. She also sang with the Women’s Chorus, and served as the Fundraising Coordinator for the Chamber Singers, with whom she toured Ireland, as well as Scotland and Wales. She was a recipient of the coveted Riva V. Bicho Memorial Scholarship, and upon graduation, was honored as the Outstanding Music Graduate of her class.
Mrs. Santo earned her Masters in Vocal Performance from The Hartt School of Music, and a Performer's Certificate in Vocal Performance from the University of Connecticut. In addition, she has also completed course work in Advanced Chorale Conducting and Critical Pedagogy from Westminster Choir College. She is also well versed in Blended Learning for the Music Classroom with coursework in Cloud-Based Music Creation and Technology for the Music Classroom, and Noteflight Certification.
Professionally, she has sung with Opera Providence, Salt Marsh Opera, Connecticut Concert Opera, Hartford Opera Theater, and the Ana Livia Opera Festival in Dublin, Ireland. She is also on the roster of Rhode Island's only professional chamber choir, Collegium Ancora. Memberships include the National Association for Music Education, the American Choral Directors Association, and she is the Treasurer for the Rhode Island Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. She is a voice student of Dr. Constance Rock.
